Because you were my friend. Because I was in love. Because you gave me a nickname. Because you laughed when I insulted you. Because I laughed after you laughed. Because you flirted easy. Because you were quiet. Because you sounded like the ocean. Because you looked like the moon. Because you were nervous. Because I loved your texts. Because I missed you all the time. Because I daydreamed all year. Because you got another girl pregnant. Because I knew that would happen. Because it took a long time to get over you. Because I don’t know what getting over means when it’s applied to you. Because you were drunk. Because you looked like the moon. Because you were jealous. Because you wouldn’t forgive. Because I couldn’t give you what you wanted. Because I didn’t want to let go. Because he asked if we were married. Because he said we fought like we were. Because you wouldn’t wait. Because I’d say anything to get you to stay. Because you were my friend. Because I broke it off. Because you flirted easy. Because you sounded like the ocean. Because I missed you all the time. Because I was in love. Because you got another girl pregnant. Because I daydreamed all year.
